Baby Jacob Samson Bres was born today at 8 am. He was 7 lb 14.5 oz and 20.5 in. He is in good health, breastfeeding, active, looking interested in everything, sleeping and farting. No dirty diapers yet. Mom Jennifer and dad Daniel and incredibly thrilled and totally exhausted. After a c section was planned due to stalled dialation, it was soon cancelled to allow a woman needing an emergency c section to be tended to. During the 2 hour wait, the dialation resumed, resulted in an unexpectedly unmedicated vaginal delivery. Jennifer was a star; she pushed through the pain and delivered Jacob after a half hour of nurse and doctor attended pushing.
Mother, father and child are still at the hospital.
In other news, I am no longer employed. After telling my employer, at time of hiring, about imminent delivery and getting OK for 3 days off, called in today and was told to choose between my job and my family. For a full time wife/mother of 27 years, the choice was simple. I am unemployed and the age discrimination and disablility liability lawsuit will start as soon as I have time to find a lawyer.
